Vaccinations Update by Country

Albania

Albania, a Western Balkans Country began the mass COVID vaccination of its people on the 11th of January 2021. For the first wave of vaccinations, the country got less than a thousand doses of vaccines from an EU country that remains undisclosed. However, this was followed by additional doses of Pfizer vaccine arriving on the 1st of February, 2021.

Algeria

The coronavirus vaccination began in Algeria on the 29th of January 2021 upon its reception of 50,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine created in Russia. This was followed by the country receiving a second consignment from China on the 25th of February (200,000 doses).

Andorra

In January 2021, Andorra came to an agreement with Spain and France to get doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine, respectively. Updates have vaccination in Andorra to begin in the early days of March as the Microstate received about 30,000 of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine from Spain.

Angola

On the 2nd of March, 2021, Angola received and administered the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine it received. The country received 624,000 doses of the Oxford/Astrazeneca Vaccine and vaccination began immediately.

Anguilla

Anguilla received the Oxford/Astrazeneca coronavirus vaccines on the 19th of January, 2021, and began administration in the middle of February.

Argentina

Argentina began its first dose of Coronavirus vaccination on Tuesday, 29th December 2020. Sputnik V, the disputed vaccine developed in Russia caused many health officials to file complaints and reservations. However, due to the pressure from its over 1.6 million infections and 43,000 deaths as of that time, Argentina had no choice but to be the third country to approve the vaccine.

Aruba

Aruba received about 12,000 doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine on the 16th of February 2021, and began administering to citizens on the 25th of February, with Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes on the list of those who got vaccinated first.

Australia

With the aim of ensuring that all willing citizen get vaccinated on or before 2022, Australia began the administration of the Astrazeneca vaccine on the 21st of February 2021.

Austria

Austria began her Coronavirus Vaccination on the 27th of December 2020, starting with the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine that was authorized for use by the EU. The country later received additional doses of vaccines on the 10th of February 2021, after the AstraZeneca Vaccine was authorized by the EU.

Azerbaijan

The administration of vaccines in Azerbaijan began on the 18th of January 2021, starting with the CoronaVac Vaccine from China. This was then followed by the introduction of the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines in February.

Bahrain

On the 4th of January, Bahrain began the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. With an aim to vaccinate 1.5 million people, the country has upon reception of its Moderna vaccine batches of vaccination.

Bangladesh

On the 7th of February 2021, Bangladesh initiated the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine with a plan to reach 3.5 million on the first month. The country had gotten first 5 million doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Vaccine being produced by the Serum Institute of India and marketed as COVISHIELD.

Barbados

The Island of Barbados began its vaccination campaign on the 15th of February 2021, leveraging the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. The government of the Island had first received a gift of 100,000 doses of the vaccine from India, followed by a subsequent negotiation to buy an additional 100,000 doses.

Belarus

Belarus entered an agreement with Russia for the supply and administration of the Sputnik V vaccine. The vaccination campaign began on the 29th of December just few days after the vaccine was also first administered in Russia. Belpharmprom, a pharmaceutical company based out in Belarus also entered an agreement with the RDIF (Russian Direct Investment Fund) to get set for the future production of the vaccine.

Belgium

The administration of the coronavirus vaccine began in Belgium on Monday, December 12th, 2020. The country took reception of the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine, and a 96 years’ old woman, Jos Hermans was the first to receive the first shot.

Belize

Belize began vaccination of its population on the 2nd of March 2021, after it received the Indian-made versions of the AstraZeneca vaccines branded as the COVISHIELD vaccine.

Bermuda

Bermuda began its COVID-19 vaccination on the 11th of January 2021, after the Island had received a first shipment of 9,750 doses. The first batch of the Pfizer vaccine arrived on the 9th of January 2021 as confirmed by the health minister Kim Wilson.

Bolivia

Bolivia is one of the countries that received shipment of the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia, and began administration of the first dose on the 29th of January 2021. The country signed and received another batch of vaccine from China and began the administration on the 25th of February, 2021.

Brazil

The vaccination against the coronavirus pandemic for Brazil began on the 17th of January, 2021. The country rolled out the program with two vaccines; Sinovac and AstraZeneca. Brazil, with a very high causality rate began the vaccination program with the inoculation of a nurse, Monica Calazans in Sao Paulo.

Bulgaria

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Bulgaria began on the 27th of December, 2020, after they received delivery of the AstraZeneca vaccine, just like most other countries in the EU. Bulgaria also made purchase of the other six vaccines that are approved in the European Union, including; Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Novavax, Johnson & Johnson Janssen, and CureVac.

Cambodia

On Wednesday, 10th February 2021, Cambodia began its efforts with the son of the Prime Minister and other government officials being amongst the first to be administered the Sinopharm vaccine.

Canada

The BioNTech/Pfizer has been made available in Canada since December, with vaccination beginning on the 14th of December. The administration of the Moderna vaccine begin on a high note, however, things began to slow down in the middle of February, which critics took advantage on to put pressure on the government.

Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands began the official vaccination campaign on the 8th of January, 2021, with about 31% of the Island’s population receiving their first dose. The Island received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, of which the Governor Martyn Roper was the first to be inoculated in front of cameras live streaming the event.

Chile

Chile began the vaccination of its citizens on the 24th of December 2020, and has since risen to be the country inoculating its citizens the fastest. The country uses the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, with an aim to have vaccinated 80% of its population in the first six months of 2021.

China

China began testing its vaccines early with human trials in the middle of 2020, with the Sinophram vaccine leading the charge amongst other vaccines developed in the country. However, the first official vaccination exercise for the Ad5-nCoV COVID-19 vaccine came on the 31st of December 2020.

Colombia

On Wednesday, 17th February, 2021, the first shot of the coronavirus vaccine was administered in Colombia, as the country had received a first batch of the Pfizer vaccine on the 16th February 2021. The country, just like several others planned to get vaccine from other countries and laboratories.

Costa Rica

The very first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was administered in Costa Rica on the 24th of December, 2020.

Cote d’Ivoire

Vaccination against COVID-19 began in Cote d’Ivoire on the 1st of March 2021, as the country made history as being one of the first African countries to lead the charge as the continent begins to get its shipments. The vaccine being used in the country is the COVAX vaccine.

Croatia

The first vaccination shot in Croatia was administered to Branka Anicic, an 81 years old woman. The country’s first vaccine was the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.

Cyprus

Vaccination against COVID-19 began in Cyprus on the 27th of December, 2021, with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine being administered one day after it arrived in the country upon approval by the European Union.

Czech Republic

Vaccination against COVID-19 began in Czech Republic on the 27th of December, and the very first person to receive a jab of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is Andrej Babis, the Prime Minister.

Denmark

The first COVID-19 vaccination in Denmark took place on the 27th of December 2020, with the aim to ensure the complete vaccination of citizens by the end of July 2021. The country started with the inoculation of the elderlies and the very-ill persons with the Pfizer/BioNTech.

Dominica

The commonwealth of Dominica started with the administration of the AstraZeneca Vaccine on the 22nd of February 2021, and the President, Charles Savarin was the first citizen to be inoculated. The country suffered the least impact of the pandemic as they recorded no death since the virus outbreak.

Dominican Republic

Upon receiving its shipment from India, Dominican Republic began its vaccination for front-line personnel on the 15th of February. The country got a first batch 20,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine by Oxford University from the Serum Institute of India.

Ecuador

The vaccination campaign for COVID-19 vaccination in Ecuador began on the 21st of January. The country started inoculating people with the Pfizer vaccine, numbering to a total of 138 persons on the first day. The country has since experienced scandals related to its vaccination effort which has seen several government officials resign from their positions.

Egypt

Egypt began vaccination of its medical staff on the 25th of January, after it got shipment of the Sinophram vaccine from China. The vaccination started with 36 centers at kick-off.

El Salvador

Upon reaching 58,000 coronavirus infections, El Salvador received the AstraZeneca vaccine from India on the 17th of February, 2021 and began administration immediately.

Estonia

Estonia began vaccination on the 27th of December. The country received its first batch of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and started administration immediately. The country later received its first batch of the AstraZenaca vaccine on the 7th of February 2021.

Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands began the distribution of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine on the 30th of December 2020. The first set of persons to be vaccinated were the frontline health workers, specifically a nurse named Gunnrio Joensen.

Falkland Islands

The Coronavirus vaccination program in Falkland Islands began on the 8th of February 2021. The AstraZeneca vaccine was first injected to about 300 persons as the country ramps up effort to get citizens protected and normalcy restored.

Finland

Just like most other EU countries, Finland began vaccination of her citizens with the Pfizer/BionNTech vaccine, with the highest number of doses recorded in the capital, as expected. The first vaccination process took place at the Helsinki hospital.

France

Getting ahead of other EU countries, France began the vaccination of her citizens on the 26th of December 2020, with the elders being given their shots in Sevran and Dijon. The first rounds of vaccinations in the country were strategic, as they government aimed to build the people’s trust about the vaccine.

Germany

Germany began its vaccination campaign on the 27th of December with the elderlies who are over 65 years of age. The country approved and started COVID vaccination with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, with the government achieving about 4 million vaccination between December 27th and January 31st.

Ghana

The mass COVID vaccination in Ghana began on Wednesday, March 3rd 2021, which made it one of the first African countries to take vaccination measures against the COVID-19 virus. The country received a shipment of the COVAX vaccine on the 1st of March, which is the earliest on the African continent.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar took possession of its Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on the 9th of January 2021, and began immediate vaccination of its citizens, ending the first phase of vaccination on the 29th of January.

Greece

Greece is one of the first set of European countries to begin the vaccination of their citizens with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, kicking off with the inoculation of frontline workers. The country looks to have vaccinated about 2 million people by the end of March, out of its 11 million population.

Greenland

Greenland launched its COVID vaccination campaign on the 4th of January 2021, with Sofie Hegelund (79 years old) being the first person to be inoculated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. However, unlike other countries that space out the first and second vaccine shot per person by two weeks, Greenland spaces by six weeks. This is to ensure that enough people get the first shot vaccine first.

Grenada

The vaccination program in Grenada began on the 12th of February 2021, as the country began the administration of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine to its frontline workers. The country was able to achieve the vaccination of about 146 persons in the first week of the program.

Guatemala

Guatemala alongside Honduras received a vaccine donation from Israel on the 25th of February. The country received a donation of 5000 doses of the Moderna vaccine and began the immediate vaccination of its health workers as it awaited the COVAX vaccines.

Guinea

Guinea began the use of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine, on an experimental basis, on the 30th of December, 2020. This experimental test took place in a center in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, with the President, Alpha Conde receiving his dose about two weeks after.

Guyana

Guyana took custody of its AstraZeneca vaccine and started vaccination on the 11th February. The first person to receive vaccination is Brinnet Bernarai. This inoculation took place at Georgetown Public hospital Corporation.

Honduras

On the 25th of February, 2021, Honduras as well as Guatemala received a donation of 5000 Moderna vaccines from Israel as it awaited the COVAX vaccine it had paid in advance for. With the 5000 donation, the country began the inoculation of its health workers. The reception of the donation from Israel comes a few day after the country’s President had made a decree to allow for the emergency purchase and use of Russia’s Sputnik V.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong commenced its COVID vaccination campaign on the 26th of February, 2021, as other countries in the Asia-Pacific region began making inoculation efforts. The country has the goal of ensuring that all adults are vaccinated by the end of 2021, though government officials face the issue of convincing people to use the Sinovac vaccine from China.

Hungary

On the 12th of February, 2021, Hungary began the vaccination of citizens after it received shipment of the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia, and on the 24th of February, the country began the use of Sinogram made in China. Acquiring these two vaccines means Hungary broke the EU consensus that all vaccine approval and purchase will be done through the central system.

Iceland

Iceland began the first vaccination of healthcare workers on the 29th of December, 2020, after it received the vaccine a day before. The country began inoculation with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

India

India began its national vaccination campaign on the 16th of January, 2021, as it began to roll out the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine it brands as COVISHIELD, which is produced in its indigenous Serum Institute of India.

Indonesia

Indonesia received custody of the Sinovac vaccine from China and began vaccinating its public on the 13th of January, 2021, with the President Joko Widodo receiving the first shot.

Iran

Iran began the vaccination campaign on Tuesday, 9th February 2021 upon receiving its purchase of 2 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia.

Ireland

On the 29th of December, 2020, Ireland began vaccination just like other EU countries, with the Pfizer/BioNTech doses coming into the country on the 26th December, 2020. In the country, a 79-years old woman named Annie Lynch was the first person to be vaccinated.

Isle of Man

COVID vaccination in Isle of Man began on the 25th of January 2021, with both the Pfizer/BioNTech and Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines.

Israel

Israel kicked off its COVID vaccination campaign on the 19th of December, 2020, with the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu receiving the first shot to be administered of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. This vaccination campaign began just in time as the country was entering a 3rd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Italy

Italy began the administration of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine on the 27th of December 2020, upon receiving an initial consignment of 1.83 million doses.

Japan

Starting its vaccination campaign on the 17th of February 2021, with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine as the country looks to move on fast with its plan to host the 2020 Olympics.

Jersey

Jersey began its COVID vaccination campaign on the 24th of January, 2021, administrating both the Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca vaccines just like other countries in the EU.

Jordan

Jordan launched its vaccination campaign on the 13th of January 2021, as it started with the vaccination of healthcare workers and those critically ill. It approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for use, followed by China’s Sinopharm.

Kazakhstan

The mass vaccination in Kazakhstan began on the 1st of February 2021, with Sputnik V, the Russia-made vaccine. The first doses were received by the two deputy health ministers; Erlan Kiyasov and Azhar Giniyat.

Kenya

On the 5th of March, 2021, began its vaccination of the frontline health workers with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. This first shot was administered at the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, after the country secured 1.02 million first batch doses of the vaccine.

Kuwait

Kuwait began its vaccination campaign on the 24th of December 2020. The vaccination began with frontline health workers and elderlies receiving the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, and according to the Health Minister, the country will secure additional doses every month throughout 2021.

Latvia

Starting on the 28th of December 2020, Latvia began its inoculation of medical workers with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine as the country ramps up effort to defeat the COVID-19 virus.

Lebanon

Lebanon began its vaccination of its population on the 14th of February, 2021 with the inoculation of health workers. However, the country suffers a major setback in the form skeptics, as it began the inoculation of the elder citizens on the 16th of February, 2021.

Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein began vaccination on the 3rd of February giving a total of 833 shots on the first day. The country approved the use of 4 vaccines; Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, Janssen and AstraZeneca.

Lithuania

Starting on the 27th of December, Lithuania commenced its vaccination campaign with the inoculation of 2420 persons with the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.

Luxembourg

Luxembourg began its COVID vaccination on the 28th of December. The government began the administration of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine after the European Union approved it.

Malaysia

Vaccination against COVID-19 began on the 24th of February, 2021, with the Pfizer vaccine as the country hopes to achieve herd immunity as soon as possible. The country’s Prime Minister received the first shot administered so as to inject some form of courage to the people.

Maldives

Starting on the 2nd of February, 2021, Maldives began the vaccination of its population with the AstraZeneca vaccine after it received 100,000 doses from the Serum Institute of India on the 20th of January.

Malta

Beginning on the 17th of January, 2021, Malta began the inoculation of its citizens with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Mauritius

On Tuesday, the 26th of January, Mauritius began its administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine to its frontline health workers as it looks to further keep the country safe from the pandemic. The vaccination campaign began with the training of about 300 health workers who will be involved in the vaccination.

Mexico

Beginning its vaccination on the 24th of December, 2020, Mexico is one of the earliest countries to begin the vaccination process. The Latin American country, just like the others in the region, was terribly hit by the pandemic. Hence, it couldn’t afford any delay in the administration of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Moldova

Upon receiving vaccines donation from Romania on the 28th of February, 2021, the country kicked off its vaccination campaign with a first set of inoculation done on 2nd of March, 2021, with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Monaco

On the 31st of December, 2020, Monaco gave its first jab of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. Priority was given to those at the age of 75 years and above, as there were just 5000 doses available for a start, as the government looks to “protect the most vulnerable.”

Mongolia

On the 25th of February, 2021, the Mongolian vaccination campaign began. However, Mongolia gave her first shot of the Coronavirus vaccine to the Prime Minister, Oyun-Erdene on the 23rd of February, 2021, on national media. The country’s campaign began with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Montenegro

Montenegro gave its first dose of the vaccine on the 25th of February, 2021 with the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine.

Montserrat

Montserrat got a first batch of 3000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the UK which it began administration of on the 8th of February, 2021.

Morocco

Morocco began vaccination on the 19th of February, 2021, kicking off the mass vaccination with the 2888 centers it set up in preparation for the exercise. The country’s vaccination started with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Myanmar

Myanmar began giving the COVID vaccine to its citizens on the 27th of January, 2021, after it received a first batch of the COVISHIELD vaccine (AstraZeneca Vaccine) from India.

Nepal

The Nepal vaccination campaign began on the 27th of January 2021. The country used the AstraZeneca vaccine. The country made purchase of the vaccine from the Serum Institute of India.

Netherlands

The first vaccination against the coronavirus pandemic began on the 6th of January 2021 in the Netherlands. A health care worker by the name Sanna Elkadin got the first shot of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

New Zealand

The administration of the COVID vaccine in New Zealand began on the 20th of February. The country rolled out the first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine to supplement its initial activities at controlling the COVID-19 pandemic spread.

Nigeria

Nigeria received 3.94 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and it began its administration on the 5th of March 2021.

North Macedonia

North Macedonia got a first batch of just 4680 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and began administration of the vaccine on the 17th of February 2021. Health workers were inoculated first.

Norway

Norway began vaccination on the 27th of December, 2020. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was first received by a 67 years old man going by the name Sveiin Anderson.

Oman

Oman began vaccination on the 28th of December 2020 at the Omani capital Muscat. The country’s health workers had spent a couple of days preparing for the vaccination of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Pakistan

The first vaccine dose was administered to a frontline health worker on the 2nd of February, 2021. The first vaccine to be used in Pakistan is the Sinopharm vaccine donated by the Chinese government. The vaccination process was televised on National Television with the President watching on as the inoculation went on.

Panama

Panama began the vaccination of its citizens on the 20th of January 2021, upon its reception of 12,840 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Paraguay

The vaccination process began in Paraguay on the 25th of February 2021, with a total of 1000 people receiving their first dose on the first day. The Russian-made vaccine, Sputnik V, is the first vaccine to be used in the country.

Peru

Vaccination in Peru began on the 9th of February, 2021, with the administration of the Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine. The country had taken custody of 300,000 doses, with a next batch arriving on the 13th of February.

Philippines

On March 1st, 2021, Philippines began rolling out the Chinese Sinovac vaccine. The vaccination campaign kicked off at the Lung Center of the Philippines, located in Quezon City.

Poland

Poland began the administration of the Pfizer vaccine on the 28th of December 2020. The citizens were reluctant to get vaccinated at first. However, upon seeing celebrities and politicians lobby to get vaccinated, people are turning out in their numbers till the first vaccine batch got exhausted.

Portugal

Portugal began vaccination on the 27th of December 2020, with about 9,750 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The first set of persons to be vaccinated were health professionals at Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon hospitals.

Qatar

Vaccination campaign in Qatar kicked off a day after its arrival. The administration of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was prioritized for those above the age of 70.

Romania

Saudi Arabia

Vaccination in Saudi Arabia began on the 17th of December, 2020. The country had received two shipments of the Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday, 16th December, and began inoculation the day after.

Senegal

On the 23rd of February 2021, Senegal began its vaccination efforts with the Sinopharm vaccine from China as the country looks to restore its economy. The country also subsequently received its AstraZeneca vaccine on the 3rd of March 2021.

Serbia

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was the first used vaccine in Serbia, and the first shot was given on the 24th of December, 2020.

Seychelles

Seychelles began vaccination on the 13th of January 2021, with the country using China’s Sinopharm vaccine. The country has since opened its borders to vaccinated tourists.

Singapore

Vaccination in Singapore began on the 30th of December 2020, with the country kicking off with the Pfizer vaccine.

Slovakia

Slovakia started it Coronavirus vaccination campaign on the 26th of December 2020. Just hours after the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was made available in the country, the authorities commenced the inoculation of Vladimir Krcmery, an infectious disease expert.

Slovenia

In Slovenia, vaccination began on December 27th with the administration of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. This was a day after the country took custody of its shipment containing 9750 doses.

South Africa

Vaccination in South Africa began on the 18th of February 2021, with an administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine which requires only a single dosage. The country switched to the J&J vaccine after it suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the country.

South Korea

The vaccination campaign in South Korea took off on the 25th of February, 2021. However, the country took the hard decision of delaying the vaccination of those over 65 years of age at the time. This is due to the delay in the ability of the makers of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to provide enough data on effectiveness for persons in that age group.

Spain

On the 4th of January, 2021, vaccination began in Spain. The country has an aim of ensuring the vaccination of all its 47 million citizens by the middle of the year. The first vaccine shot to be administered in Spain is the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Sweden

Vaccination in Sweden began on the 27th of December, 2020, with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine being employed. Between December 27th 2020 and January 10 2021, the country has succeeded in inoculating 80,000 people as updates have it.

Switzerland

Vaccination began in Switzerland on the 23rd of December 2020 with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine being the first vaccine to be used by the Swiss government.

Thailand

The vaccination campaign in Thailand began on Monday, March 1st, 2021, with the Sinovac vaccine administered to frontline health workers in Bangkok.

Trinidad and Tobago

The first shot of the coronavirus vaccine in Trinidad and Tobago was administered on the 17th of February, with the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine provided by the Serum Institute of India.

Turkey

The health minister of Turkey was the first to be vaccinated in the country on the 13th of January 2021. Vaccination of health workers in Turkey began on the 14th of January, 2021. The country’s vaccination program began with the use of the Coronavac vaccine from China.

Turks & Caicos

Turks and Caicos began the vaccination of its local population on the 11th of January, with the Governor, Nigel Dakin among the first set of persons to be vaccinated. The country received the initial 9750 doses, which was only enough to vaccinate 11% of the population.

Uganda

On the 10th of March 2021, Uganda began its vaccination of all and sundry. This comes after the country received 864,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on the 5th of March.

Ukraine

Vaccination in Ukraine began on the 24 of February 2021, after the country took custody of AstraZeneca vaccine’s delivery a day before.

United Arab Emirates

The UAE administered the first shot of the Coronavirus vaccine on the 5th of January, 2021. The Pfizer vaccine was the first to officially be used in the country.

United Kingdom

On the 8th of December 2020, the United Kingdom administered the first ever vaccine to be used in the world. A grandmother named Margaret Keenan, 91 years old, was the first in the world to receive a shot from Pfizer vaccine.

United States

The United States began vaccination in its fight against the Coronavirus pandemic on the 20th of December 2020. The vaccine first administered on the country was from Pfizer.

Uruguay

COVID-19 vaccination began in Uruguay on the 27th of February, with the administration of the Pfizer vaccine that the country considered more effective than its CoronaVac counterpart.

Venezuela

On the 6th of March 2021, Venezuela began its COVID vaccination campaign, as the country’s President, Nicolas Maduro received the first shots of the Sputnik V Vaccine, alongside his wife.

Vietnam

Vietnam began its administration of the vaccine on Monday, 8th of March 2021 with the AstraZeneca vaccine. As with most countries, the first set of persons to be vaccinated were the frontline health workers. This vaccination came just in time as the country was headed for a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zimbabwe

Starting with her Health Minister and frontline workers, Zimbabwe officially began her vaccination campaign on the 18th of February, 2021. The country also got the Sinopharm vaccine from China.
